Any subject matter is bloggable...
I came across this blog by a collection of inveterate aficionados of broken umbrellas. They also welcome submissions from the umbrellarazzi for "carnage photos" involving umbrellas!
The compulsion to blog is explored by Micha Hilliard in this short video, Portrait of a Blogger: Monsieur Croche.
Blogging "allows me to think of a sentence for a long time, how to formulate it... when I'm in a conversation with someone, then I don't have as much time... and I can't formulate a thought as eloquently... as when I am writing on my blog".

Chernobyl Revisited
An awe-inspiring example of fusion imagery (combining Stills and Video) to inform, to teach, and to inspire the world on the human condition. In this video, the Stills seem to move and the Video clips seem suspended in time. There's a sense of urgency for the story to be told but it's done in a languid pace, as if to say, it's already happened so what's the rush; the fatalistic tone to the story comes with faith in renewal.

A work of art... only in the Philippines
One-of-a-kind and hand-assembled, from recycled materials. Ingenuity knows no bounds when materials are scarce and one has to work with what's available... a variation on "necessity is the mother of invention".
This and many, many others found on the streets of many, many Philippine towns deserves to be showcased as an example of what's possible! July 2011
Don't worry.... be happy!
These last few days, the Philippines has been a major preoccupation but as that Rolling Stones song says, "Oh, time is on my side, yes, it is..." Rizal Boulevard, Dumaguete City.July 2011

Linkedin... WTF?
Just wondering what all these announced connections have to do with anything.
Is this some sort of glorified name-dropping?
Do the names dropped actually have any significance to anyone else?
Just wondering...
Faded Glory: Guelph's Biltmore Hat Company and hockey's "hat trick"
The Guelph Biltmore Mad Hatters were a junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey Association from 1940 to 1942, and 1947 to 1960. The team was often known as the "Biltmores" and sponsored by the Guelph Biltmore Hat Company, and played home games at the Guelph Memorial Gardens.
The Biltmore Hat Company rewarded any player scoring three or more goals in one game the choice of hats at their factory, bringing new meaning to the term "hat trick."
The Biltmore brand began in Guelph in 1919 but the illustrious history of the Biltmore brand in Guelph is over. The line of hats will be made in Texas beginning in early 2012.

Photography is with the mind, using a camera.... any camera.
I love this quote: a fresh version of a familiar cliche.
One can get too preoccupied with tech talk. Photography is about documentation of traces that accelerating charges leave in the universe by producing photons of varying frequencies.
When a photon arrives at a sensor, having moved through the lens, it passes the bar to another quantum particle : the electron.
We will see in the coming decade a better management of these electrons with better engineering.
However, the mind only interacts with photons. Keep taking photos. With whatever camera you have. Trust your retina and your mind. That is where good photography is. It is the mind that gives any significance to these flying photons. And no technological breakthrough will ever match it.

'Amen, I say to you, as much as you have done to one of these my little brothers, you have done that to me.'
(The title quote is from the Aramaic Bible in Plain English)
Thank you to the people who go out of their way to set up this and other bird feeders, as well as regularly top up these feeders for the benefit of these birds as well as for the countless birders and hikers who tramp through these woods. So much unquantifiable benefits for many from the efforts of so few!
To reciprocate for the joy of seeing these birds, do your little bit to benefit others in your own backyard!
