Virgin births throughout human history.

The best known virgin birth is that of Jesus Christ.
But there are others as well.
The Greek demigod Perseus was born when the god Jupiter visited the virgin Danae as a shower of gold and got her with child.
The god Buddha was born through an opening in his mother's flank.
Catlicus the serpent-skirted caught a little ball of feathers from the sky and hid it in her bosom and the Aztec god Huitzilopochtli was thus conceived.
The virgin Nana took a pomegranate from the tree watered by the blood of the slain Agdestris, and laid it in her bosom, and gave birth to the god Attis.
The virgin daughter of a Mongol King awoke one night and found herself bathed in a great light, which caused her to give birth to Genghis Khan.
Krishna was born of the virgin Devaka.
Horus was born of the virgin Isis.
Mercury was born of the virgin Maia.
Romulus was born of the virgin Rhea Sylvia.
"For some reason, many religions force themselves to think of the birth canal as a one-way street..."

Shane Philips and Bottled Water: An Interview

A brief chat with Shane Philips from Guelph, an inspiration to all of us. He is an effective local voice for a global issue: water resources. Google "shane philips" and read about his initiatives.
We don't have to be a Bill Gates or a Warren Buffett, we don't have to be doctors in malaria-infested regions, we don't have to be articulate enough to be on TV. By acting as individuals, we can lend our voices, our talents, and resources to the many issues in our own local areas that need voices: animal issues, land planning and zoning issues, waste disposal issues, etc, and we can lend our support, passive or active to these worthy initiatives. The whole world is our backyard... here is no Plan B for our environment.
